Oakbook Photo Contest
Your grandmother's chicken, your father's lumpia, your best friend's brisket, the carnitas from the local taco truck—one taste and you know you are where you're supposed to be. The OakBook is asking student photographers (ages 20 and younger) to document the chefs whose cooking tastes like home. Deadline August 12. More info
Eat Real Bike Tours
Join East Bay Bike Coalition’s tour for two-wheeled foodies! Begin and end at Eat Real Festival at Jack London Square. Pedal along Oakland's waterfront, and meet local culinary artisans, learn their specialties, and taste their creations. All participants get a 10% discount at the Beer Shed! 12pm-4:30pm, Saturday and Sunday. More info

Ghosttown Farm Tour
Join Ghosttown Farm for a special day of farm activities on August 29 in West Oakland. Novella Carpenter’s amazing day includes a chicken slaughter workshop, an inner-city goat how-to, farm snacks and more. The tour is free, but donations will be gladly accepted!
